German course Level A1 - CEFR

General objective:
Acquire the basics of the German language to communicate in simple and daily situations.

Duration and organization

• Number of weeks: 10 weeks in intensive format (Monday to Friday)
• Total hours : about 120 hours.

Specific objectives

• Listening comprehension: Understand common expressions and simple sentences related to immediate needs (presentation, purchases, directions).
• Reading comprehension: Read short and simple texts (posters, menus, announcements).
• Oral expression : Introduce oneself, ask simple questions and answer on personal topics (name, age, address).
• Written expression: Write simple sentences, fill out forms (name, address, nationality).

• Alphabet, pronunciation and intonation.
• Basic vocabulary: family, professions, hobbies, food, time.
• Simple grammatical structures:
  • Present tense verbs (sein, haben, regular verbs).
  • Definite and indefinite articles.
  • Affirmative, interrogative and negative sentences.
• Introduction to German culture.

Methods and tools

• Communicative and interactive approach.
• Role playing,, dialogues, practical exercises.
• Supports multimédias (audio, vidéo, plateformes e-learning).
• Continuous assessment + final test (Goethe/ÖSD standards).

Why learn German at the A1 level?

The A1 level constitutes the gateway to the German language. It allows learners to communicate in simple situations and lay the necessary groundwork for advancing to more advanced levels. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR, this level is essential for:
